Miami Offers Local 2027 WR Zion Vilma

Hurricanes trying to lock down talent in the backyard

Miami dipped back into Palm Beach County for future speed on the perimeter, extending a scholarship offer to 2027 Lake Worth wide receiver/cornerback Zion Vilma this week.

Vilma went public with the offer on Twitter, calling the Miami opportunity a blessing.

On3 lists Vilma at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds with a 4.48-second 40-yard dash, giving Miami another long, fast target for the 2027 board.

Through two varsity seasons at Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School, Vilma has 86 receptions for 1,393 yards and 23 touchdowns, including 47 grabs for 827 yards and 11 scores in 2025, according to MaxPreps. He averaged 16.2 yards per catch and 60.6 yards per game over that span, numbers that fit right into the explosive profile Miami targets at outside receiver. Garcia also uses Vilma on the defensive side at cornerback.

On3 currently shows scholarship offers from Miami and FIU for Vilma, while Florida State, Syracuse and Coastal Carolina have also showed interest.

For Miami fans, Vilma profiles as another long, stridey wideout with legit track speed and multisport movement skills. On film, he fires off the line, eats cushion quickly and wins vertical routes with smooth acceleration. He tracks the ball well over either shoulder and attacks it with extended arms rather than letting throws drift into his chest. Vilma already owns honors such as Sun Sentinel All-County and Rising Stars all-sophomore recognition.

Miami’s staff can sell an early path into the rotation for 6-foot-plus receivers who separate vertically and win contested catches, especially if Vilma continues to develop at corner and special teams as well. His recruitment still sits in the early stages, but this Miami offer plants the Hurricanes squarely in the middle of the chase for one of South Florida’s most intriguing 2027 skill talents.
