Andre Alexander Jr., a 2028 linebacker at Bradenton powerhouse IMG Academy, announced Tuesday that he received a scholarship offer from the Hurricanes.
The offer adds Miami to an expanding list for a blue-chip defender who already has drawn national attention.
Alexander’s offer means another Miami target at IMG, a program Mario Cristobal’s staff continues to recruit with urgency. The Hurricanes have leaned into national evaluations under Cristobal, but they still need to stay aggressive inside Florida. Offering Alexander accomplishes both. He plays in-state, practices against elite talent and already owns the type of recruiting profile that will attract most major programs.
Alexander stands at 6-foot-1, 210-pounds. His profile also lists him as an 88-rated prospect, and a recent report from 247Sports on his Michigan offer described him as a Top100 linebacker. Michigan offered Alexander last week, joining Florida, Florida State, Oregon and Ohio State among his early offers. His recruitment has already moved from regional interest to a national race.
Alexander still has years before his signing day. The Hurricanes can now build the relationship before official visits, top-school lists and commitment timelines start driving the process. That matters more with IMG prospects, who see Power Four coaches come through campus throughout the year.
On3 reported last month that Florida became a top school for Alexander after offering during his first visit to Gainesville. Florida State and Ohio State also already moved in, which means Miami cannot treat this recruitment like a slow play.
Alexander’s board will change, his ranking could rise and his recruitment will likely stretch across several more seasons. Miami’s job now involves getting him to campus, keeping communication consistent and showing him how he could develop in the Hurricanes’ system.
