Miami added another high-upside defensive lineman to its 2028 recruiting board after Arthur Jones IV announced the Hurricanes scholarship offer on X July 30.
Jones, a four-star prospect from Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York, posted the offer after contact with Miami’s staff. His announcement tagged coach Mario Cristobal, Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor and other members of the Hurricanes’ recruiting operation.
The Rivals Industry Ranking lists Jones at 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds. That ranking places him No. 220 nationally, No. 21 among defensive linemen and No. 2 in New York for the 2028 cycle. Those numbers will change as services evaluate two more high school seasons, but they already show national interest in his development.
Miami joins a growing offer list that includes Syracuse, Penn State, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Purdue, Boston College, Indiana and Kentucky. Syracuse gave Jones his first scholarship opportunity in June 2025, adding a strong hometown connection to a recruitment that now stretches across the Power Four.
Jones carries a familiar football name. His father, Arthur Jones III, earned two first-team All-Big East selections at Syracuse before a professional career that included a Super Bowl XLVII title with the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens selected him in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL draft, and he later played for Indianapolis and Washington.
The younger Jones also counts former NFL edge rusher Chandler Jones and retired UFC champion Jon Jones among his uncles. That family history draws attention, but college staffs have offered Arthur Jones IV because of his own traits.
His film shows a powerful young defender who can attack gaps, chase plays and finish through contact. He already carries enough size to work across multiple fronts, and his next two seasons should reveal whether his long-term projection favors the edge, an interior role or a hybrid assignment.
Miami’s offer fits Cristobal’s broader approach. The Hurricanes continue to recruit nationally for line talent while leaning on Taylor’s credibility as a teacher and evaluator. Taylor can discuss pass-rush technique from direct experience, while Miami can point to recent investments in development, facilities and roster depth.
The recruitment still sits in an early stage. Jones cannot sign until the 2028 cycle reaches its conclusion, and his offer list should continue to expand. Visits, relationships and staff stability will shape the process long before any final choice.
Miami nevertheless gained a place in the conversation. The Hurricanes now have time to build trust with Jones and his family, evaluate his growth and show how their defensive plan could use his skill set.
