Seven Miami players were selected for the 2027 Senior Bowl Top 300, giving the Hurricanes the joint-largest group from an ACC program on the preseason evaluation list.
Quarterback Darian Mensah, running back Mark Fletcher Jr., wide receiver Cooper Barkate, defensive tackle Ahmad Moten Sr., edge rusher Damon Wilson II, linebacker Mohamed Toure and cornerback OJ Frederique represent Miami. The group covers six position rooms and both sides of the ball.
Christopher Stock of InsideTheU reported Friday that Miami tied Clemson for the most selections among ACC teams. The conference placed 45 players on the list, while Ohio State led the country with 16.
The Senior Bowl’s published Top 300 confirms each Miami name. Selection for the Top 300 is not the same as an invitation to the all-star game. It establishes a preseason pool for evaluators to follow as the season produces new film, medical information and role changes.
Miami’s seven names carry different questions into that process. Mensah must translate his Duke production to a new offense after leading the ACC with 3,973 passing yards and 34 touchdowns in 2025. Fletcher can show a complete running back profile as a runner, receiver and protector rather than relying on one volume statistic.
Barkate enters his first Miami season with 185 career receptions for 2,848 yards and 21 touchdowns. Playing beside Malachi Toney can reduce the number of forced targets he receives while creating more isolated opportunities. Evaluators will be able to judge how efficiently he turns those chances into explosive plays and first downs.
The defensive selections create a similar range of evidence. Moten returns as the proven interior anchor. Wilson arrives from Missouri after recording nine sacks last season. Toure supplies veteran production at linebacker, and Frederique has a chance to show that his size and coverage ability hold up against a full schedule of primary receivers.
Having seven players on a preseason list does not guarantee seven draft choices. It does show that Miami’s roster has recognized prospects beyond one headline star. A team trying to return to the College Football Playoff needs that depth to appear on Saturdays before it matters in April.
The timing also gives the players a useful benchmark. Miami opens at Stanford on Sept. 4, then moves through a schedule that will offer different styles and matchups. Every candidate will have a chance to answer a specific evaluation question rather than chase a generic preseason label.
The 2027 Senior Bowl is scheduled for Jan. 30. Invitations will depend on the season that comes first. Miami begins with seven players in the national evaluation pool, tied for the ACC lead, and enough role diversity to keep scouts watching every phase of the team.
The list also reflects different stages of college experience. Mensah, Barkate and Wilson changed programs after established seasons elsewhere. Moten and Fletcher developed inside Miami’s roster, while Frederique grew into a prominent role early in his career. Toure brings another veteran path. Scouts can compare transfer production with performance in Miami’s system rather than treating the seven as one uniform prospect group.
