Miami QB Target Neimann Lawrence Sets Commitment Date

Neimann Lawrence has placed one of Miami’s biggest 2028 recruiting battles on the clock.

The four-star American Heritage quarterback will announce his commitment on June 25, with Miami among his five finalists alongside Texas, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Michigan. Lawrence ranks as a top-75 national prospect and the No. 6 quarterback in the 2028 class, according to 247Sports.

Lawrence gives Miami a local priority with national pull. The Plantation standout has collected more than 30 scholarship offers, and his recruitment has already stretched across several blue-blood programs. Texas has built momentum in recent months, while Miami continues to push for a quarterback who plays less than an hour from Coral Gables.

Lawrence carries the arm talent, production and profile that can help shape a future class. As a sophomore, he completed 131 of 185 passes for 1,971 yards, 32 touchdowns and one interception. Those numbers show why major programs moved fast.

Miami also offers something the other finalists cannot match: proximity. Lawrence has played at Ransom Everglades, Miami Northwestern and American Heritage during his high school career. A South Florida background like that gives the Hurricanes a natural connection, but local ties alone rarely close elite quarterback recruitments. Miami must sell development, offensive fit and long-term vision.

Landing Lawrence would send a loud message. The Hurricanes have worked to keep elite South Florida talent home under the current staff, and quarterback remains the position that can influence an entire recruiting cycle. A Lawrence commitment could give Miami a centerpiece in the 2028 class and create momentum for the commitments still to come.

On the other hand, missing on Lawrence would sting. Few prospects combine his local roots, early production and national reputation. With Texas, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Michigan involved, Miami faces a heavyweight fight.
