Miami has added another intriguing edge prospect to its future recruiting board after extending an offer to 2028 defender Jeremiah Figaro.
Figaro plays for Dexter Southfield in Massachusetts after transferring from Malden Catholic and reclassifying from the 2027 cycle to 2028. He measures roughly 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds and has played both wide receiver and defensive end during his high school career.
That position switch changed his recruitment.
Figaro spent much of his earlier football career on offense before moving to defensive end during the 2025 season. His length, movement skills and experience as a receiver quickly translated into pass-rushing upside.
College programs responded.
By mid-June, Figaro had collected more than 30 Division I offers. Nebraska, Texas Tech, Maryland, Illinois, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and Wake Forest entered the race during his initial recruiting surge. Notre Dame later offered after watching him compete at camp.
Florida State also offered this summer, while Penn State has continued pursuing him.
Current recruiting rankings reflect his rise. Rivals lists Figaro as a four-star prospect and one of the top edge defenders in Massachusetts.
Miami’s interest makes sense.
The Hurricanes have consistently recruited length and athleticism at edge under Mario Cristobal. Figaro brings both, plus a developmental profile that could produce a considerably different player by the time he reaches college.
At 205 pounds, Figaro still needs additional mass before projecting as a full-time Power Four edge defender. Three more high school seasons give him plenty of time to add that weight without sacrificing movement skills.
His background at receiver makes his ceiling particularly intriguing. Former skill-position players often carry valuable movement traits when they transition to defense, especially when rushing off the edge or pursuing plays in space.
Miami enters a crowded recruitment, though.
Notre Dame already holds family significance for Figaro because his uncle, Cedric Figaro, played linebacker for the Fighting Irish from 1984-87. Other national programs continue pushing for visits.
That competition gives Miami plenty of work ahead.
Still, extending the offer gives the Hurricanes an opportunity to establish their pitch early. With several years remaining before Figaro signs, Miami has time to turn initial interest into a meaningful relationship.
